Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
Good morning
Me and my best friend have bucket lists of places to travel together and one place we both really want to go is Rwanda. She was an animal science major and dreamed of working with animals and African animals were always her favorite. She never got to do that so we were wanting to plan a once in a lifetime trip to Rwanda (or Uganda) to do this. One of the biggest things we want to do is the Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking. We have each both only traveled to one other country so we're pretty new at this. For anyone that has done this I had a few questions that might help make it easier for us to prepare:
1. In anyone's opinion is one better than the other (Rwanda vs Uganda) or are they both the same. By better I mean if anyone did both trips did they have a better experience doing the Gorilla and chimp trekking with one or the other? Is the price about the same? Are both safe to travel and stay at or is one safer than another?
2. Lodging. Best places to lodge. As much as we'd love to stay somewhere that books everything for us that looks like that would be about a 12k price tag not including airfare which would probably be out of our budget. I've heard you can do it for under 7k but I don't know how accurate that is sonthats why I want opinions. We don't have to stay somewhere super luxurious so id love to hear the options. We don't know how long yet but anywhere from an 8 to 15 day trip.
3. Tour guides. Please let me know what tour guides you used for the trekking. I know there is a bunch
4. Any other tips? Anything we should buy before trekking? Any other places around the area that we should visit? She loves giraffes and elephants so maybe a safari to see these animals? We're open to any other ideas of things we should do while there.
