Been a construction controller a few years now doing draws, takeoffs, subcontract negotiation, job cost/WIP, but have recently reached a boiling point of office politics BS and am now looking for a new job.
I'm trying to move into a PE or coordinator role with a GC here in Austin. Field sequencing has always fascinated me from the back office.
Couple questions for anyone in the field:
1. Does that controller-level background actually help for a PE seat, or do GCs want field time first? 2. How much does the specific GC matter early on vs. just getting in anywhere and learning? 3. Anyone know any GCs in Austin, TX looking for PEs?
Happy to start as a general laborer and work up if that's the realistic route.
