Recently bought my first home which has a front garden that hasn’t been touched in years. Basically just a few privet bushes and too many of one variegated grass taking over the beds.
I want to plant a garden of flowering perennials but when I tried to dig up some of the variegated grass, it was nearly impossible to get a spade all the way into the ground. What do I need to do to make the soil workable? Can I add soil and compost on top and just plant into that? #activity source
