A recruiter reached out to me about a role that I am really interested in. He passed my resume along to the hiring manager of the company and said there was a lot of interest from their end to get me on a first round screening call ASAP.
Fast forward a week and the recruiter has been slow with giving me updates and hasn’t been able get a scheduled time for me to speak to the hiring manager directly. He said he was on PTO at the end of last week causing part of the delay.
I’m wondering if it’s a bad thing or a red flag to the company to bypass the recruiter who brought the job opportunity to my attention and apply directly. I’d rather be the point of contact as this recruiter seems to be slow or not making a priority out of it. It’s also possible it’s not his fault and the slowness is on the hiring managers side, but that hasn’t been communicated with me.
TLDR: is it bad to bypass a recruiter to apply directly for a job listing, after the recruiter has already brought me up and shown my resume to the hiring manager? #business source
