I try to meet people and make friends, but I end up…

I try to meet people and make friends, but I end up disliking most people I meet. What’s wrong with me?

I want to make friends and have a meaningful connection with people (esp at work), but I realized that I keep running into the same problem.

I end up disliking most people I meet (mostly the people that show enough intest in me), even if they haven’t done anything wrong. But when I \*do\* meet someone I actually like, I feel so much pressure, like what if they don’t like me, that I get stressed and start avoiding them. It's for any social interactions in general.

I can socialize and act normal, people tend to tell me that I'm quite likable if I want them to like me, but it feels like I’m putting on a persona. It works short-term, but it’s not genuine, and over time I burn out, feel resentful, and eventually distance myself or things fall apart. This would usually last from a few weeks to a few months, or a couple of years if I try a bit harder. But it always ends with me either really disliking them, or them really disliking me.

The only friendships I can maintain are low-effort ones where we barely see each other, and I always feel lonely and disconnected from people.

Does anyone else feel like this or know what might be going on?
