Trying to set aside differences with your religious friends
Do any other atheists struggle with having religious friends? I know religion gives a lot of people purpose, and I like seeing other people happy. However, I find as my friends become more and more religious this resentment starts to build. I have tried to understand their beliefs and have read parts of the bible and done some of my own research. Recently some of my friends expressed how their pastor was making homophobic comments but they just ignore it. They say they aren’t homophobic but you go to a church that preaches homophobia every Sunday? Or they went around in public clipping bible verses to people’s bags. It just doesn’t sit right with me. In your experience do you think these differences in belief can be put aside or will there always be quiet resentment on both sides?
