Traveling with white and Indian friend, I notice more…

Traveling with white and Indian friend, I notice more racism against my Indian friend but my white friend acts like the bigger victim

Canadian group of friends traveling in Asia. I definitely notice that people seem less curious and interested or just less welcoming overall towards my Indian friend and are being extra friendly towards my white friend. Definitely not unexpected but any time there’s some sort of slight inconvenience, my white friend will feel offended and start talking about how racist Asia is. Theres a huge disparity between what I see and how he feels and my Indian friend notices it too.

I’m half Asian so I’m wondering if we (non-white looking) are just less sensitive to being discriminated. Not that it’s okay but we have just come to accept it as reality that we navigate in this world.

However, I do feel a bit torn because he’s my friend, but I also think he’s being overly sensitive to things that me and my friend as immigrants deal with a lot. My friend will say things like how Korean people stare at him and he genuinely feels like it’s racism. When people are short with him because they’re don’t speak English, my friend attributes that to being racist against white people.

Is there any benefit of explaining this to him? It’s hard to reconcile that we definitely see some privilege he has but we don’t want to straight up say he’s being overly sensitive because we know that feeling discriminated against is not a good feeling, whether it’s actually the reality or just in his head.
