Am i under paid?

I work as a residential contractor in Southern California. My title is “Job Site Lead,” and I essentially bridge the gap between our PM and the labor crew. I make sure the job is moving in the right direction, plan out the labor for the day, and also perform the labor myself.
The company I work for builds additions and ADUs. I currently make $30/hour.
One of my biggest concerns is the cost of commuting. Gas is expensive in SoCal, and I’m spending around $700/month on gas. I’m only allowed to use the company card for gas if we’re driving more than 30 miles to a jobsite, so I’m responsible for my commute and pretty much all other driving.
The company also doesn’t offer any benefits.
For some additional context, I’ve previously owned and operated my own remodeling company, so I have experience beyond just performing the labor. I don’t plan on going back to owning a remodeling company because it’s not the career path I want long-term.
Between the $30/hour, $700/month in gas, lack of benefits, and the workload/work-life balance, I’m starting to feel like I’m underpaid for what I’m actually doing.
Would you guys bring this up with your boss and ask for a raise, or would you start looking for another company? And if so, what would you consider a fair hourly rate for this position in Southern California?
