How to navigate being the only woman at a social gathering?
There is a track club I like, but my problem with it is that it's usually just guys. It's not a guys only club or anything, I think other women probably just feel the same way I do: they look on the Going list on Strava, see that it's just men, and think, no thanks.
I have been the only woman a few times, and the guys aren't creeps or anything. They're pretty supportive and nice. Everyone is focused on their workout and will chat. Most of them are married, with kids. I just get intimidated because they are all tall and built and so fast and I'm a short woman who isn't that fast. The guy who organizes it has told me to tell my friends about it, it would be great to even out the numbers, but none of my friends can make the time work with their schedules.
I kind of had the realization the other day that maybe I need to be the change I want. Like, I have not gone for a few weeks because I keep seeing only men on the Going list. But maybe if I said I was going, other women would be like, okay, this isn't just a guy thing, I wouldn't be the only woman there.
I just idk. I guess i don't really know how to navigate being the only woman in a social setting. #relationships source
