Connecting Alta Via 1, 2 & 3 - Summer Hike Project 2026
Hi All,
I'm planning to hike the Alta Via 1 (North -> South), Alta Via 3 (South -> North with via ferrata variants) and Alta Via 2 (North -> South) linking them together in one big hike during June/July 2026. Anyone here that has done it before?
I'd like to start in mid June just before the Rifugios open to avoid the crowds on the initial part, mainly wild camping/bivouacking, carrying my food and travelling as light as possible.
Does anyone know if the snow could be problematic at that time of year? I'm considering to carry microspikes and maybe a very light ice axe if it is very bad... Also an ultralight ferrata setup for the EEA/ferratas on the way.
I'm still looking for a way to connect the end of AV3 from Villabassa to the start of AV2 in Bressanone. Anyone got any tips?
