People, mainly westeners, always say how streetfood is the best, especially in countries in south east Asia (Vietnam, Thailand etc.). But I believe it's not.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of the times it's really really good but it isn't necessarily better than in a restaurant in those countries. I feel like a lot comes from the low price and the inconvenience of eating outside on the streets that add to that feeling of getting something more authentic and better.
I'd say an ordinary restaurant in these countries serves better food that is just as authentic. My family for example is Vietnamese and they rarely grab anything off the street and rather go to some ordinary restaurant like many other locals do too.
There you don't risk any food poisoning and get food that is just as good. I believe streetfood is just romanticized by westerners and not necessarily better at all. #conversation source
