🛢️ Brent crude futures fell more than 2% in early Asian trading on 21 September, touching their lowest level in more than a week. Brent traded near US$101.71 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate was near US$98.15.

Reuters reported that investors were weighing hopes that diplomacy around the Iran war could advance during a United Nations meeting. The prospect of de-escalation reduced some of the risk premium that conflict had added to oil prices.

A partial recovery in Saudi oil shipments also helped ease supply concerns, although attacks by Yemen’s Houthis were continuing. Reuters cited JPMorgan estimates that Middle East oil flows had remained below the 2025 average despite the disruption.

The fall follows a period in which conflict and shipping risks had pushed the Brent benchmark above US$100. Market participants will be watching diplomatic developments, Saudi export flows and the security of regional energy routes. 📉
