We used to just wait. At bus stops, in lines, in quiet…

We used to just wait. At bus stops, in lines, in quiet corners. People would look out the window, observe strangers, or just let their mind wander into empty space.

Now, the second a ten second gap appears, the hand reaches automatically into the pocket. Those tiny quiet gaps were never wasted time. They were the natural buffer where the mind quietly unpacked the day.

This really made me stop and think. We used to have those little moments to simply look around, daydream, or let our thoughts wander without feeling the need to fill every second. I honestly think we could all use a few more of those quiet moments today. 🌿❤️

haha exactly, reaching for the phone has basically become a reflex before the brain even realizes we are standing still 🌿

I still do it this way; I don't keep looking at my phone all the time

Actually that pocket reach is not new only, people were alredy filling same gap with cigarette or folded paper itself.

The reach into the pocket happens before the gap even registers. I still get it in a grocery line, hand moving while I'm still deciding what I came for. Those buffers weren't empty, they were where the day got sorted. Do you ever catch one and leave the phone alone, or does the unpacking only show up when there's nowhere else to look?
