**Feeling stuck as an entry-level designer and could use some advice**
I graduated with a BFA two years ago, have already been laid off once, and my current internship ends in about a month. At this point, I'm really hoping to land a full-time role, but I'm struggling to figure out how I should move forward in my career.
A few things I've been wondering about:
**1.LinkedIn / Job Search**
LinkedIn has not done shit for me. It feels like I'm constantly seeing the same jobs with 100+ applicants, and even "entry-level" roles that want 2+ years of experience.
Are there any job boards or communities that are actually good for junior designers? Where are people finding opportunities these days?
**2. Portfolio**
I don't feel like my portfolio is where it needs to be, but I also feel stuck. I feel like a lot of recruiters want to see real-world work, but much of my internship work is still waiting for approval and publishing. I want to get a job ASAP but I am unsure what to do.
I've considered posting passion projects on Instagram, but I'm not sure if that's actually worth the effort in terms of getting noticed and hired?
**3. Entry-Level UX**
My background is in both graphic design and UX/UI, but most of my internships and freelance work have involved little to no UX research or strategy.
Is meaningful UX work mostly reserved for more senior roles? I'm starting to wonder if I should focus more on web design instead, since it often feels like recruiters barely look at the UX process sections in my portfolio.
**4. 3D Modeling / Animation**
2 days ago, I realized that working for Bratz would honestly be a dream job.
The problem is that I suck at Blender. I learn best in structured environments, and YouTube tutorials alone aren't gonna work for me.
Does anyone have recommendations for good online courses, bootcamps, or classes for 3D modeling and animation? Would pursuing a master's degree be worth considering?
Also, during a recent interview, a company told me they use AI for all of their motion graphic work. Is that becoming common in 3D modeling and animation as well, or is that industry still largely artist-driven?
I'm based in **New York**, so if anyone knows of design events, networking opportunities, communities, or organizations that have been helpful, I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks in advance. Any advice is appreciated. #art source
