Is this seriously how it's like for now on?

It's 5PM where I'm at in Europe, and I see that everything is hot into September. Even where I'm from in the US, everything is hot! Is this the new normal for now on? Just hot? Can an environmental scientist or someone please explain? I don't want to jinx anything.
