No matter how many times she hits me or yells, I’d still cut my arm off for her
Our 2yo daughter is in a hitting phase that we’re trying to deal with without hitting her (spanking or the like).
I’m currently sitting in my empty classroom at school (plan period) crying my eyes out because, as Darius Rucker says, “it won’t be like this for long.”
But no matter how many times she hits me, I would still cut my arm off in a second for her.
I wish I could rewind time and start all over again. But I know this is why she’s here: to grow up, to be and do good. To love people.
And I have determined early on that I am not going to look back when she’s older and wish I’d been a better, more present father.
I tell her I love her. If I ever lose my temper, I apologize. I enforce healthy boundaries. I always hold her when she cries. I read books with her every night. I play games on the floor with her, even when worked drained the life out of me.
