Could solar radiation/radiant heat ever be used heat advisories?
Novice weather nerd here. I know the heat index measures temperature and humidity, but will it ever account for how intense direct sunlight feels? I’m in Houston, and there are days when the actual temperature and heat index don’t seem particularly unusual for summer here, but being in direct sunlight feels noticeably more intense like almost “spiky” or like the sun is hitting your skin harder. And could something like that eventually be incorporated into heat advisories, rather than relying primarily on temperature and humidity/heat index? #science
