Experimenting with a 3D diamond illusion in an end grain cutting board
I wanted to see if I could push the classic diamond pattern into something that actually looks three-dimensional.
After several glue-ups and a lot of careful alignment, the contrasting wenge, purpleheart, and cherry came together to create this optical illusion. I had a rough idea of the final look, but the grain and color variations always have their own plans, so every board ends up a little different.

Material: Wenge, Purpleheart & Cherry
Construction: End grain
Finish: Food-safe mineral oil
