I am watching some precipitation forecast models near the Great Lakes area. In many models, when a big snowfall cloud passes by one of the Great Lakes, there is usually some lingering snowfall on/around the lake, as if a tiny chunk of the big cloud got caught by something and stuck there. I assume it has something to do with increased humidity around the lake, but would love to hear a cohesive explanation if the phenonmenon is actually real. #science
