ASELA — The Price of Progress

Long ago, in the peaceful village of Akaka , there lived a man named Asela . In English, his name meant "Progress."
At first, Asela was an ordinary man, but his hunger for wealth led him down a dark path. He became known for performing powerful money charms for wealthy clients. The villagers whispered that every ritual required something terrible—a human body part . Those desperate for riches ignored the rumors, believing only in the gold that followed.
Asela grew richer than anyone in Akaka.
He built the grandest mansion the village had ever seen. His compound was filled with expensive cars, servants, and treasures from distant lands. He married ten wives , each living in luxury, while people admired his success from afar.
But not everyone celebrated him.
The elders often said, "Wealth built on innocent blood never sleeps in peace."
Asela laughed at their warnings.
One evening, after hosting a lavish feast for his wives and clients, Asela retired to his room. Before sunrise, he was found dead. No one could explain how he died. His face was frozen in terror, as though he had seen something no living person should ever witness.
He was buried with great ceremony, but the story did not end there.
Soon, strange things began to happen.
Anyone who tried to claim his land heard footsteps echoing through the empty halls. At night, unseen hands knocked on doors, shadows moved without light, and cold whispers filled the rooms. Those who dared sleep in Asela's mansion always fled before dawn, claiming an invisible force chased them through the house until they escaped.
His cars remained parked , untouched.
His mansion stood empty .
His farmland returned to the wild .
No relative, no wife, and no villager dared inherit a single piece of his property. They believed Asela's restless spirit guarded everything he had gained through evil.
Even today, when children pass the abandoned estate, they point to the silent house and whisper:

"That is Asela's house. He gained everything—but left with nothing."
And so, in Akaka, the mansion still stands... empty, silent, and feared by all.

I'd love to take a look around that house sometime.... Maybe I could hear him.
