From my point of view, a girl’s consent in marriage is not optional—it is a fundamental right that reflects her dignity, voice, and humanity. In some parts of our country, traditions still overshadow personal choice, where girls are expected to accept decisions made for them rather than with them. This practice not only affects their emotional well-being but also shapes the quality and stability of marriages in the long run. True empowerment means trusting girls to understand their own lives, values, and futures, and supporting them in making such life-changing decisions. Our faith and culture, when understood deeply, emphasize respect, mutual agreement, and compassion—not coercion. Change may be slow, but creating awareness and standing for consent today can build a more just, respectful, and balanced society for tomorrow.
