Nostalgia is a sad, cold feeling. It’s not “warm” or bittersweet.
“Algia” comes from the Greek for pain: “Algos”. Nostalgia literally means a pain for home.
The term originally described an illness. Soldiers abroad would weep, experience anxiety, and fall mysteriously ill. The term has evolved into its current meaning.
Some people describe looking back on better times as warm and hazy. To me, it fills me with emptiness. #conversation
