People paying over the top prices are worse than the seller charging the over the top price.
The seller is doing exactly what a business in a capitalist society should be doing….extracting the most amount of money possible for the least amount of work.
The paying-too-much consumer however, is failing at their end of the bargain. Too often I hear people lamenting that they paid this money for concert tickets or sporting events, as if the value isn’t either.
Either they are lying to themselves, and they do actually think the event is worth the cost. Or they simply have nothing better to do with their money, so they spend it on stuff that doesn’t mean anything to them.
Either way, they are failing in their role to vote with their wallet. Buying expensive concert/sport tickets is proving that the business was correct all along in their pricing model.
Let the stadium sit half-empty. Then you may see a change.
