Mychal and Klay Thompson, between the two of them, have a combined 25 seasons played in the NBA. The 2026-27 season will be the first time either of them has played in the Eastern Conference.

This fun fact dawned on me yesterday. Pretty crazy they've never left the Western Conference.
My favorite subplot of Klay signing with Miami, though, is that Pat Riley, of course, coached and won two rings with Mychal Thompson and now is signing his son. Just such a cool through line and a testament to how much Pat Riley has done in this league and how long he’s been around.
