Solar panels during power outage, my homestead setup is missing one important piece
When I started working toward a more self-sufficient lifestyle, I focused on the basics: growing food, storing supplies, maintaining equipment, and learning how to handle problems on my own.
The last power outage made me realize I had overlooked one major weakness: reliable backup power. It’s easy to forget how much depends on electricity until the grid goes down. Freezers, water systems, tools, and basic communication can all become difficult to manage.
I’ve been researching solar and backup power, but I’m realizing that having panels is not the same as having a system you can depend on when you actually need it. A reliable setup is about keeping the essentials running when power is unavailable.
