How much should I charge for a major dieline/orientation change?
I’m a freelance packaging designer and would love some advice on how you would price this situation.
The client provided a horizontal dieline, so I completed the designs based on that format. I had already finished 15 designs when the client informed me that the actual packaging orientation should be vertical.
This isn’t just a simple rotation — I have to manually rearrange the layout, reposition assets, and adjust the designs to fit the new orientation.
My quotation includes **2 rounds of revisions**, but I consider this a change to the original design specification rather than a normal revision.
I’m thinking of charging a percentage of the original design fee for the 15 designs that need to be reworked.
**What percentage would you charge in this situation — 50%, 75%, 100%, or something else?**
And for future projects, would you charge the same percentage if the client changes the dieline/orientation after work has already started?
Would love to hear how other freelance designers handle this. #art source
