One popular superstition in my society is the belief in the “evil eye” (nazar) 👁️—that someone’s jealousy or praise can harm your success, health, or happiness. I don’t fully agree with this belief. First, it often makes people afraid of others’ opinions instead of focusing on their own efforts and growth. Second, it can create unnecessary negativity, where success is hidden instead of celebrated. Third, many problems are explained by nazar instead of real causes like hard work, planning, or health issues. Fourth, it sometimes leads people to rely on rituals instead of practical solutions. Fifth, it can damage relationships by creating suspicion and doubt among friends and family. Sixth, I believe confidence, positivity, and logical thinking are more powerful than fear-based beliefs. Lastly, while cultural traditions are important, we should question ideas that limit our mindset and personal progress.
