I’m looking for some help and advice on a family trip. My mom recently mentioned her biggest regret in life was not visiting Ireland with my sister and I and her mother. So naturally, now that I have kids, my goal is to get to Ireland with my mom and my kids! I’m feeling ambitious as this will likely be the only big trip with my mom and kids and her last big trip as she is almost 80.
In 2027, my mom’s birthday is Easter Sunday which lines up with the spring break for the kids (end of March). So it feels like the right time. I understand weather might not be super great at this time…
About our family and plans: We are traveling from Denver, CO to Dublin, Ireland at the beginning of 2027 (March 24th- April 1st). 3 adults, 2 kids (ages 7, 5 and 3). We are meeting an additional 4 adults and 1 kid (7yrs). Budget is flexible but would like to be as cost effective as possible.
I’m looking for feedback on things to do with kids, hotels you enjoyed, any must see hidden gems. Also, thoughts on if we should book hotels to multiple cities or stay in one city and do day trips. Does it make sense to have a base in Dublin and do day trips out to other cities? Or does a night or two elsewhere make more sense? I was thinking travel to Galway to be closer to the Cliffs of Moher.
I’m also looking to find a unique castle or location for a birthday meal for my mom. Just want the event to feel special for her!!
Does anyone have itineraries for a similar trip they’ve taken or plan to take? I’m not the best trip planner, and this is the first big trip with kids, so any help is appreciated!! #travel source
