Jupiter being turned into a sun
Hi Physics, I'm not sure if this is a physics question or one of the other sciences, but I came here first anyway. In the sequal to 2001: a Space Odyssey (2010?) Jupiter gets turned into a sun and I wondered if having a small heat and radiation source so close to Earth would be detrimental to our existance? And if turning it into a sun sould affect it's rotation, and orbit around Sol. Etc. Thank you.
ETA, I know it's fiction, but my question is about the effects on Earth of the situation.
