Danganronpa fan game "Project: Eden's Garden" has been canceled
In a tweet today https://x.com/ProjEdensGarden/status/2048129352995393806 , the account for the project has officially confirmed https://docs.google.com/document/d/1H2Lcm3VXMCIKdkh40Uny0jyYnoMKTFYGGgNwHxGjwMg that production of Project: Eden's Garden has been canceled. This comes in the midst of some recent controversies, as well as the aftermath of some leaks that damaged the team's morale. However, the Unity codebase used to make the game, "DREditor", and possibly Eden's Garden assets, will be open-sourced, in the hopes of allowing the game and all the work put into it over the past ~5 years to live on and have a legacy.
I am not super-familiar with all the drama/controversy, but having played the Prologue demo back at the end of 2022, I did see so much potential (such official-looking production values for a fan game) and am sad to see it canceled. I hope the best to all the team members and the future of this fandom. On the more official side of things, I hope we all enjoy 2x2 later this year.
