🎾 Elena Rybakina defeated Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 to win the US Open women's singles title in New York. The victory gave Rybakina her first US Open championship.
The result also means Rybakina will replace Sabalenka as world No. 1 in the next rankings. Sabalenka had won the previous two US Open titles and had held the top ranking for 99 consecutive weeks.
🏆 It was Rybakina's third Grand Slam singles title and her second of 2026, after the Australian Open. Both of those 2026 major titles came against Sabalenka on hard courts.
Rybakina ended Sabalenka's 19-match winning streak at the US Open. She had already secured enough ranking points to take No. 1 by reaching the semifinals, then added the trophy with the final victory. 📈
