Iron thing behind ceiling fixture
Trying to change out an old chandelier at my parents home. Took off the old one and instead of a modern day electrical box, I find this old iron “thing” in the ceiling. Have no idea what it is and I’m trying to remove it because it doesn’t work with the new chandelier set up. Anybody answers or suggestions? I think this house was built in like the 1920s or something.
