Archaeologists Hunt for Sunken Treasure Within WW2 Shipwrecks

In Papua New Guinea and the Solomons there are many sunken WWII ships, Japanese and Allied, that are stark reminders of how close war came to Australia. Ben Cropp visits the location of these shipwrecks; his underwater HD camera glides over the deadly cargo they carried. The ammunition and guns that now litter their silent decks provide new habitation for schools of tropical fish. The jungle also shrouds the relics of war. You can stumble upon a crashed plane or a gun emplacement concealed by dense foliage. Time has stood still for 60 years, each relic a memorial, a museum housed in a jungle, a hidden reminder of the threat on Australia’s doorstep.

Join Ben as he provides a fascinating, and personal look at how the war touched so many people’s lives, even those who stayed behind and experienced the grave threat to Australia, and the impact it has had on them.
