Killing crape myrtles and prickly pears
I don't like crape myrtles. Call me weird, I just don't. Everyone else out there loves them, but they are SUCH a pain to keep up and will get out of control the moment you ignore them for just one season.
So I wanted to plant some dogwoods and jacarandas. We had three crape myrtles about 20 feet tall, and got someone to cut them down \*and\* grind the stumps down. The dogwoods and jacarandas are doing well.
But the crape myrtle is trying to come back, of course. We cut it and have applied Triclopyr and Glyphosate. It's not up against the dogwood or jacaranda, so we can safely spray it. But the crape myrtle will eventually choke them out if we can't kill it off, because the roots are so extensive and I know \*any\* part of the roots can grow a new plant. This is part of why I hate crape myrtles.
So what herbicides do well killing off crape myrtles?
Also, will any herbicides kill off prickly pears? We have one of those too, and I sure as hell don't want to remove \*that\* one manually!
