Hello, taking over a small hobby farm/horse property from my girlfriend's parents. They have a back pasture that is probably 4.5acres? It's overgrown and the horses kinda just pick through it but most of it is weeds that are left untouched, would love to clear it and get some pasture mix down to get it back to a state where the horses graze the whole area.
Question is how do I do this? I'm not new to being handy, I'll happily rent a skid steer with a bush hog and clear the land, but would I have to till it before I re-seed?? Is this a fall project where I wait for everything to die down then do it? I know I'll need to section the area off for a season to let it germinate so the horses don't pull the roots when the graze.
Need to get the property cleaned up just don't want to waste my time or have to go back and do it again
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated #home source
