Can I paint over our tiled bathroom walls?

I know it won’t look perfect but our bathroom is swathed in 6-7 feet of yellow tiles topped with kidney beans purple tile trim. I hate it so much. Yes it extends into the bath/shower. Is there any world in which I can paint it all over in white?
