People that never call into work and brag about it and/or complain about others calling in, look silly.
I understand the concept that it inconveniences us when our coworkers call in. Maybe we have to work a little harder that day. But their time is their time. They own it, I don’t care what they use it for or when they use it.
And i’d rather they call in sometimes, it makes me not feel bad when I call in. They will have to work a little harder that day, just like I had to when they were out. Zen. Balance. Namaste.
Also, you don’t win anything by not using the time given to you. In fact you look silly because you will still have to work harder to compensate for your coworkers being out and never take a turn for yourself. Maybe your boss will notice you are always there, pat you on the back and give you extra work because he knows he can rely on you to be there tomorrow to get it done. It doesn’t make you any more qualified or knowledgeable than anyone that uses their time off lol.
If you get paid out for it, or it rolls over and you are saving it, then I get that.. or if someone is severely neglecting their job then I understand that kind of frustration.. but otherwise there is literally no benefit to not using your benefits.. actually when people don’t use their sick time, HR might think they are being too generous with sick time and lower the number of days given.
