It’s not an interview, you’re an unpaid consultant.
I get a call from a recruiter, and they asked me what my salary expectations were, and I let them know. The recruiter says, it’s great and they set me up for an interview. I meet with the director and we speak for about an hour and a half. At the end of the interview, the director asks me what are my salary expectations and I give her the same information and I’m told, oh no, we can’t meet that. OK, no big deal. The recruiter calls me the following day and says, oh the company sent me an email about the salary being too high and I didn’t see it, so I didn’t get back to you before you had the interview. I’m really sorry about that. Ok, again no big deal, things happen. Today, a job listing pops up on Indeed. It’s for the same job and now they’ve taken all of the information that I had provided them based on my experience and it’s become part of the requirements for the job listing. I am not angry that I didn’t get the job. I’m angry that I wasted my time, and they used my job experience and knowledge to fine tune their ad. I would love to call the recruiter and tell her I’m submitting an invoice to their company for a consulting fee of 1.5 hours. Ugh, annoying. #business source
