Where do I start dealing with this plumbing saga?
So last month I went on a short vacation (5 days) and left a petsitter at my home to watch my dog. When I got back, the sink had a clog. I assumed it was something simple like coffee grounds, but I couldn't clear it, so I called my regular plumber.
They came out, couldn't clear it with a snake, and couldn't see the blockage with their camera, so they had me stop using the sink for a week while it dried up. They came back 5 days later and found a block but couldn't remove it or get passed it. So they gave me an estimate for $6k to dig under the house and remove it manually.
I decided that before doing that, I would get a second opinion and possibly have it jetted, since the first company doesn't have a hydro. So today a different company came out. THIS company's camera didn't work, so we had to wait around for about an hour while a guy on their team went and bought a new one. Once they got in there, they saw a foreign object, but needed additional tools to remove it, so I waited another half an hour while they went shopping.
Once they came back, they found - SURPRISE - a hose attachment for a vac that the FIRST plumber somehow lodged in the pipe. All total, the second plumber charged me over $600 - $300/hour to "remove foreign object", though most of that time was spent shopping. All to fix something the first plumber did.
But then, to top it all off, it turns out that the clog is still there. As I ran my dishwasher for the first time in 2 weeks, it started overflowing my sink.
So now my head is spinning so fast I don't even know where to begin. Where do I even start? Is it reasonable to say the second company overcharged me and either need to give me a refund or come fix the clog AND give me a refund? Do I try and get the first company to pay for the second company? This level of clusterf\*\*\* is more than I can process.
