Exclusives are no longer a reason to switch/buy consoles.
We are nearing 1000€+ consoles. Next gen will be likely 1200-1500€.
There is just no possible way I will ever pay over a thousand bucks to play one or two games.
In the PS4/XBOX One Era, you could pick up a barely used console for like 200€, usually including some games.
Now even most used consoles are near the initial new price.
I wanted to play Starfield when it released but just couldn't justify 570€ for a single game.
I really want to play Fallout 5 and TES6 when they release, but I just can't justify nearly 1000€ for those two games.
It's not like there aren't enough games releasing. Every month has like three huge releases. Exclusives don't make people think of buying a new console anymore, they make people think "aw that sucks Oh well".
I have a PS5 but I would NEVER recommend a XBOX user to buy a PS5 for it's exclusives.
They're usually good, sure but you get like 2 a year.
It's just not worth it.
