How do I build self-control to not do things that are haram, discouraged, or stuff I’m wasting my time on?
This can be anything. But to specify, I’m struggling with fighting the urge to not listen to music anymore. I’ve listened to it a lot less, significantly less within the past several months but that’s not good enough. I find myself listening to music when I’m sad, AND when I’m happy, I don’t have the urge when Im in that middle ground.
Another is masturbation, although I don’t think it’s directly haram because I’m not actually having having intercourse nor am I even watching porn actually. But we can all agree it’s discouraged and unhealthy, and I’ve had a personal issue with it that I may need to go to therapy for.
Then the pointless stuff that wastes my time, video games, TikTok, TV, anything that spoils or could spoil me. I’m not saying I’d cut this out completely, and I actually have cut out a lot of it significantly but I’ve been having trouble being productive and doing other stuff, because the urge to do productive things isn’t there and it’s still on the pointless stuff I mentioned. #religion source
