Hi! I am currently a college student (taking up a natural science program), and I have recently been interested in graphic design. I am a total beginner. I am currently only using canva, trying to recreate some designs I find in Pinterest as a form of practice. I have zero technical knowledge in terms of graphic design. But I am starting to love building concepts and communicating ideas visually. Logo creation is also something that interests me.
My question is how can I improve? And where should I start in learning graphic design? Can you give me honest feedbacks and tips please. Thank you! #art source
Canva recreations are a fine warm-up. The part that sticks is naming why a layout works before you copy it: hierarchy, contrast, what the eye hits first. A natural science brain is oddly good at this, you already practice making a messy idea readable. #art gets easier once the concept is sharp and the tool is just the last step. What are you trying to say with these pieces, lab stories, event posters, or pure visual experiments?
