Am I Overreacting?

Greetings to all who come across this post! I'm 23 years old. Last month while on my way to meet up with a friend for lunch, I came across a fellow Gen Z guy who also appeared to be in his early 20s greeting people and telling them to have a good day. I responded back "Thanks, you too!" Most gen Z doesn't appear to know how to talk to people they do not know. I differ from most of gen Z because I absolutely love meeting new people and I'm very extroverted. The fellow peer I came across seemed to have the same personality. However, I didn't stop and have an entire conversation with him because as mentioned earlier, I was on my way to meet up with a friend for lunch. Unfortunately, that friend ended up being heavily delayed due to personal business. What I regret is not indulging in a deeper conversation with the other young guy. I really wish I could have told him how much I appreciated his kindness. There's not a single day that has gone by where I do not think of him ever since that moment. Because Gen Z mostly seems to have massive social anxiety, finding another gen z who appeared to be as social as me and significantly less antisocial or asocial has made my day. And now that I'll likely never see him again, all I can do is think about his kind gesture but I cannot stop thinking about him. What should I do in this situation? I have ruined a perfectly good chance to potentially get to meet someone new all simply because the purpose of that day out was to have lunch with a friend, without knowing he'd be delayed. Am I overreacting? Am I overthinking? Am I too harsh on myself? Thanks in advance.
