Am I out of touch or have flights gotten absurdly expensive?
It's been a few years since I've taken an international trip but I'm pricing out flights from Portland, OR to Edinburgh in mid-late October and it seems near impossible to find anything reasonable\* under $1300 unless you're willing to have multiple layovers resulting in 18+ hours of travel time.
I've been using Google Flights, SkyScanner, Capital One travel portal, and several airline sites directly and it seems to be about the same. Am I looking too far in advance? Should I have been looking sooner?
\*By reasonable, I mean flights that aren't the lowest tier economy or booby trapped with a bunch of fees or weird stipulations. Only allowing one carry-on and no checked bag is silly for a week or more international trip.
