Got into hand embroidery 3yrs ago. Now I do realistic wildlife portraits.
Mostly cats, but I've done several red pandas, some birds, etc. This is done entirely by hand and what is called "single strand thread painting." I draw the stencils myself from reference images and use those to create the portraits, usually in 6 inch hoops. Each piece generally takes me 1.5-2 months depending on my focus otherwise I can crank em out in 1. Enjoy! My IG is needlefelis š©·
