Noise polluters should be as stigmatized as litterbugs
In the 60s and 70s the idea of litterbugs was created to stop people from throwing their trash everywhere. It largely worked, with roadside litter dropping 50%.
Today's inconsiderate jerks leave another kind of trash: noise. Straight pipes, loud motorcycles, people making their engines pop and rev, speakers blasting from convertibles and motorcycles, small planes flying low, fireworks on seemingly every event day now, leaf blowers and hugely oversized riding mowers, and just the sheer quantity and incessant nature of car noise.
Now Amazon is testing drone delivery in 7 states and I'm past the limit on the noise I can take. If we have jumbo delivery drones going overhead along with the rest I don't know what I'll do. I hate the advice everyone gives of sound-proofing my house or getting noise cancelling headphones. I want to sit outside, in my own yard, without being blasted by noise that I need to cancel or muffle.
We should find a way to penalize noise polluters and make people realize the acoustic soup they're making us all live in is dumb and unnecessary. #conversation source
