The Korean Trick to Stop Squash Borrer Most summer squash…

The Korean Trick to Stop Squash Borrer

Most summer squash is C. Pepo, which is coincidentally the squash most susceptible to the vine borrer.

And in western gardening, I'm not actually aware of any summer squash that isn't pepo (im still looking though because it probably exists.)

Good news that western gardening isn't the only gardening tradition!

Korea has several cultivars of C. Moschata that are summer squash, this is the same species as butternut squash.

This species is highly resistant to the vine borrer and IMO, tastes better than pepo.

The cultivars I know are called Put Hobark and Aheombak.

Photo is a package of seeds I got at an international grocery store in Indianapolis. True leaf market (the one who bought Kitazawa) has them as well.
