First time going it alone — Philippines front-runner, but sell me on alternatives
Hey all. Doing my first ever solo trip this year. Used to do month-long trips with my ex, now I want something for just me, and honestly I want to actually feel excited about it again.
My criteria:
Easy for a first solo trip (English or French friendly, safe, easy to get around)
Not too expensive
3-4 weeks
Departing from France or Barcelona
Some beach time in the mix
Southeast Asia is my instinct, already been to Indonesia and Bangkok (city only), so open to something new-ish
Right now I'm leaning Philippines — island hopping in Palawan, maybe Siargao, Bohol. Looks stunning and English is widely spoken there which feels reassuring for a first solo trip.
Timing question: I can wait until mid-November but I'm not sure I can push all the way to mid-January. Is Nov-Dec good enough weather-wise, or is it worth holding out for Jan-Feb? Trying to figure out if the wait is worth it.
Also open to other countries if something fits my criteria better than Philippines. Vietnam? Sri Lanka? Anywhere else people would recommend for a first solo trip with beaches and an easy vibe?
Any general tips for solo travel newbies are welcome too. Thanks in advance. #travel source
