Here’s my take: 1️⃣ Greediness vs Selfishness Greediness and selfishness are similar but not identical. Selfishness is about prioritizing your needs over others in certain situations, it’s situational and sometimes necessary for survival or self-care. Greediness, however, is an excessive desire that goes beyond necessity, often at the expense of others. When is selfishness valid? I think it’s valid when protecting your well-being, mental health, or resources in a way that doesn’t harm others unnecessarily. For example, taking time for yourself after a stressful week is healthy selfishness. 2️⃣ Greediness and Corruption Yes, greediness can be a root for corruption. When people want more power, money, or influence than they need, they may compromise ethics, laws, or fairness to satisfy that desire. History is full of examples—from corporate scandals to political power grabs—where greed drove corrupt actions. 3️⃣ Greediness and Health While greediness itself doesn’t directly cause cancer, overindulgence—like eating too much, unhealthy foods, or excess alcohol—can increase health risks, including cancer. So in a sense, letting our desires override our body’s natural limits can be harmful. 4️⃣ When Greediness is ‘Valid’ This is tricky, but I’d say mild greediness can be a motivator. Wanting more knowledge, skills, or experiences is a form of “productive greed.” For example, a writer wanting to write more books, a chef wanting to perfect their recipes, or a student striving for extra knowledge—these are forms of desire that push personal growth without hurting others. 5️⃣ Watermelon Question 🍉 If someone shared watermelon with me, I’d probably take half a watermelon . Why? Because I enjoy it but also respect the person sharing it, and it leaves room for gratitude and moderation. But honestly, if it’s a celebration, taking the whole thing could be my “greedy moment” 😄. 6️⃣ Final Thoughts Desire itself isn’t bad; it’s the degree and impact of it that matters. Greediness can hurt people or motivate them—it depends on how consciously we channel it. Selfishness can be healthy, greediness rarely is unless it’s about personal growth or learning. Thanks for reading my thoughts! 🙏
