By definition hip hop is a culture (break dancing, DJing, graffiti, clothing/style, and of course rapping).
In the modern world I feel as though the two get mixed up to the point where we forget what's what.
Me personally I like rap but I feel as though the other parts of hip hop get overshined because what made hip hop mainstream to a certain extent is what?
Rap
I love rap and all that comes with it. The bars, lyricism, metaphors, flow, diss lines, etc. It's the part of hip hop that brings it all together. It's an amazing way for rappers to present themselves to the world while giving us all the different aspects of hip hop.
Everything from when a rapper shows off their style, their visual artwork, their dance/rhythm skills, their "I can rock the party" DJing skills, all of this goes back to the greater.
Hip Hop.
I know to some, they'll say I like rap. To some they'll say, I like hip hop overall.
I'd love to see what you guys/gals have to say about this topic because I think it might even lead to a bigger conversation about why the passion and culture might be a little mid nowadays when it comes to rap/hip hop.
